High Priestess of the Moon, Eugene, is a deity from the Warcraft series. The Moon Goddess, she is one of the three celestial bodies that make up the world. She is also associated with healing and the elements of water and air. According to the Eastern religion, she is the goddess of love and power who rules over all temples. She is also associated with the wind, the rain, and the sun as well as many other forces.
Her personal emblem is a necklace called the Ambrosial. It contains numerous shells and other precious stones of great value. The value of this necklace is greatly determined by the rarity of the shell it is made of, its clarity and luster, and its association to Eugene. The most abundant shell used in the necklace is called the amber of Ambrosial.
In World of Warcraft, the concept of the high priestess is almost universally accepted. Representing the female aspects of the elements, she is often associated with the moon, the wind, and the rain. Her epitome is the serene beauty of the Moon goddess, often representing the purity of her heart. To her many lovers, she is also known as the Mother of the Gods. The serenity and calmness of the Ambrosial aliment often gives mortals a sense of comfort and well-being.
For gamers who have experienced playing the Warcraft games, they know that Eugene, also known as Serena Sunflower, is a temple priestess. Her powers and abilities are focused on cleansing, healing, and restoration. She can be considered to be the quintessential healer. Her sanctuary is known to be the Silver Hand's abode. To everyone who has met her, she appears to be a shy and reclusive individual, yet her powerful presence cannot be undersold.
The serene and tranquil atmosphere that surrounds Eugene Prices is reflected in her profile page. Seemingly aloof and reserved, she seems to prefer to sit in her own little abode, where the world seems to be at ease. This profile picture is accompanied by a serene image of the ocean, with the ominous sounding “Moonspear”. The background, chosen in this picture to accompany this profile, is a picture of a very busy ocean with a number of sailboats passing by.
In the game of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, players may find themselves in her sanctum. Here, players will be able to interact with the High Priestess and learn more about her motives for sending forth her apprentice, Zaerja. Upon learning of his heritage, the High Priestess orders the deckhands to prepare the banquet, a ritual that is meant to honor the might of the Sunwell. The banquet is not without its fair share of tension, as the deckhands are dangerously absent…and so is the Sunwell itself!
Once all the guests have been properly seated, the High Priestess herself makes her entrance, followed by a pair of shimmering stormclaws. With a single thought, she surveys the room and speaks a single word to each of the Sunwell Deckhands: “Seek out!”. With that, she dismisses them all to the various aliments where they serve as the bounty hunters of the Sunwell.
This is one of my favorite videos from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It really showcases the wealth of detail that goes into the production of the game, especially when it comes to its audio and visual components. For fans of the World of Warcraft genre (especially those who like their tabletop games epic in scale), this video will be a must-watch as often as possible.
