Caravaggio
The Caravaggio was built with the late Renaissance in mind. It is one of the most stunning palaces in all of Italy. It was commissioned by the duke of Francesco Caracciocchi, who commissioned it because he wished to build a museum that would rival the Sistine Chapel. What he and his team were able to create during their time of work is something that is still admired today.
This work of art is one of the most important ones that the world has ever seen. It is also considered to be one of the most influential as well. In 15 96, the great artist began studying painting in his home with his family. What he discovered while there is something that would influence him throughout his career. It would eventually influence him into something that we know him for today.
This man's greatest love was for the painting called The Battle of Pavia. For many years this painting sat in the Louvre, but was taken down in 2021. The reason it was taken down is due to security. Security fears at the museum forced it to be removed. Other works that he created in this style also had to be taken down because they too much liability. However, there remains one that was previously completed while he was living in his villa in Tuscany.
In this painting he would once again shine within his painting style. He went back to using harsh colors and reds, but this time he applied blues and greens. There are different theories as to why this painting was neglected. One says that he was overwhelmed with all the work that he was doing, so he needed a break. Another says that he was too busy living life to spend the time working on such a difficult painting.
Many believe that the painter was not satisfied with how The Battle of Pavia was coming along. It took him nine years to complete it. While he was working on this painting he would often stop to rest and eat lunch. He would then work for several hours after lunch then go back to work on another painting. It was rumored that he would sleep like a log for several hours each day in order to get the maximum amount of relaxation.
After this long and grueling work period the painting finally began to show signs of aging. It was no longer as fresh and colorful as it had been when it was first completed. The colors were beginning to appear faded. One of the most noticeable areas on the painting was the dark section where the sun would be reflected on the water. This section was actually supposed to be part of the watercolor that was done during the early years of the painting, but due to the poor health of the painter had been avoided.
Caravaggio's final painting for this series was The Lady of the Lake. This was the last painting of him that he completed, and he would never finish another painting of this style. In the painting the colors are more vibrant and the style has completely changed, it is now much more Mediterranean in style.
