Performance figures for the Lexus IS 500 f Sport are quite impressive. In fact, they are higher than many of the Lexus vehicles that have come before it. The improvements are subtle, but the increased power makes a big difference. With a maximum speed of seven hundred and twenty-three miles per hour, and a torque of two hundred and seventy-five lb-ft, the power of the Lexus IS500 f Sport is impressive.
One of the most important changes in the new model of the Lexus IS500 f Sport is the suspension. Lightweight alloy wheels now provide smoother ride and handling, and upgraded spring and shock absorbers improve the car's overall handling performance. Newer, higher grade suspension geometry helps to reduce lift, while adjustable damping controls help to dampen vibration and dampening. Standard on all models of the new model, the IS 500 has been fitted with new, lighter front and rear bumpers to reduce weight.
The other major change in the new Lexus IS500 f Sport is the new hatch. Instead of the previous hatch that opened up to the back of the car, the new model features a folding rear door that takes advantage of space-saving optimality in a sedan. Standard on the all-wheel drive model, the IS 500 offers both conventional and adaptive damping control. Standard on the all-wheel drive only model, the IS 500 offers adaptive damping control on the front and rear wheels only, with a manual override button that allows the driver to select from either system.
As standard on the Lexus IS500 F Sport, the gasoline V-6 is fitted with a continuously variable compression-damping engine that features variable valve timing for optimized fuel economy. A twin- Scroll compressor system produces two compression stages, with high-pressure and low-pressure phases to optimize performance. High-flow exhaust ports are also provided for optimized cooling. The standard, base model of the Lexus IS 500 features a conventional six-speed manual transmission and a dual-zone automatic parking system. However, the latest model (2220) of the Lexus IS 500 F Sport includes a standard six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive.
