Ocean Painting

Here, is how to go about an ocean painting in this quick step by step tutorial. Grab a ready outdoor painting surface. Start Painting the Ocean Sky – 2.1

Now it's time for your big sea-scape painting. Grab a palette and large canvas to use as canvas. Light the large canvas with studio lighting and apply single coat of white paint. To get the best effect when painting the ocean sky, a high quality oil paint is required. This will produce rich tones of color that will enhance the ocean seascape painting and not diminish its beauty. Now it's time for the second color, the ocean color.

In your ocean painting, use slightly darker shades of blue to create the blue seascape. This will be contrasted with the bright blue colors in your sky. You can use single or two small amounts of dark blue paint for the large wave shape and a slightly darker shade for the clouds. Use the same technique for the ocean and cloud shapes.

The ocean painting should have slightly warmer colors coming from the ocean than the sky. This is due to the warm and bluish tones of sky that come forward to the ocean, which is typically cooler than the sky. To create the deep blue color temperature you should mix equal amounts of light blue and deep blue hues. Then apply slight tanning to your colors to make them blend together with the sea.

After creating a nice color temperature, it's time for your third color in your ocean painting. This is the sunshine colors that come forward as clouds and seas. The sunlight colors are often called the sun's own light. Apply slight tanning to your painting as well to make your clouds blend better. The lighter your sun colors, the brighter your paintings will be. Use a very small amount of paint for this one.

In order to create the ocean painting you need to apply a nice opaque layer of ultramarine blue paint. Then mix a small amount of white into your painted area to blend the two colors together. You'll also want to add a light blue wash to the white to create a transition from blue to white. Then add a few drops of blue stain or fake ocean water to the areas that you don't need to see clearly yet. This will help you achieve a nice smooth look.

Your ocean painting surface texture will vary depending on what type of waves you are trying to portray. If you are trying to portray large ocean waves, apply a little bit of blue pigment to the area you want to create waves. If you are attempting to portray the sound of ocean waves use a little bit of white. If you are trying to depict a smaller amount of waves, use a little bit of black.

After everything has dried, you can start painting the sky. This may seem like a troublesome task. However, with practice you'll easily master this task. Start painting from the top down working your way to the horizon. The best way to begin any type of seascape painting is to have a good idea of how the sky will look when finished with all your layers.

You'll need to take several different layers and mix them together. I usually start by mixing in a very small amount of blue pigment with a large amount of white. Once the blue gets blended in properly you'll then need to take out a very small amount of white. By taking out the white you'll be left with a very dark blue color which is the base for all your ocean painting layers.

Now you're ready for the fun part! When you finish your ocean painting you can start adding some beautiful hand-painted barn wood elements into the background of your painting. Barn wood wall art is very easy to create. In fact, most of all the things you need for this type of painting is found right inside your home!

Surf paintings are a great way to bring a natural, analog feel into your home. Surf paintings are very popular for many reasons. The first reason being that they are great for bringing a feeling of relaxation and calmness into a room. Another great thing about Surf paintings is that they are very inexpensive.
