Titian

Tiziano Vecelli, also known in English as Titian, is a Venetian artist during the Renaissance, regarded by many to be the first member of the famous Venetian group of painters. He was born around 1495 in Pieve di Cadore. During his life he was often described as da Pince, 'of the Pince' – a reference to his homeland. Like many other members of this prestigious group of artists, he is often mentioned in Italian works as Tintinaggia or Tintini.

In the years leading up to the Renaissance, Titian's country of origin was listed as Iberia. This was later changed to the modern state of Spain. The most significant aspect of this is that the name was changed when it became clear that the area had to have a unique name to distinguish it from its neighbors. Thus, instead of being a simple duke, Titian became the new duchess of Spain, and, according to one legend, the first monarch in Western Europe to be granted this position. It is believed that this may have inspired the famous painting entitled The duke of \ Titian | duke | portrait | painting} One of the most well-known and best known of all the Titian paintings is his painting The Queen of Genoa, or Tintaglione. This portrait shows a much different side of Titian than the ones depicted in earlier works, as he seems to show a more jealous attitude towards his wife. His mood is sad and suspicious, as he makes a point to observe her every move. In this particular painting he also demonstrates a certain amount of flirting in order to seduce her. For this reason, it is often considered as one of the strongest examples of Renaissance art when it comes to flirting.

The most popular Titian painters were the ones who created The Madonna and the Saints, which was originally intended to be a religious work but later on it was used as a title for several different artists, most of whom were Italian. The artist who had the longest association with Titian was Vasco Da Pigna, whom we know as the great artist Donatello. In fact, the original concept of the painting The Madonna and the Saints was intended to include the depiction of several figures, all of which were meant to be holy roman Emperor's. Some examples of these figures are St. Valentine, St. James and St. Barbara, all of whom were meant to be patronized by the Roman Catholic Church and all of whom would have been executed by the Catholic Church at the time. Another example would be St. Augustine, who was thought to be a great lover of the church and was being canonized along with his two closest friends, Pope Sixtus IV and St. Celiacus.

Another painter in the city of Rome that had a hand in influencing the concept of the Titian style of painting was Michelangelo. Some of his greatest works are the so-called Seven Churches of the Nativity, the Last Supper and the Sistine Chapel. Among the other famous artists who used the medium of pen and paint in creating artworks based on the ancient religion of Rome areuccia, an Italian artist whose works include The Last Supper and the Alter Piece; Titian, an Italian painter who was also an architect and grammarist; andpainted the Sistine Chapel. Titian's name is often mentioned in connection with Michelangelo and the artist's statues of the David and Goliath.

As for the actual artistry in Titian's works, the one that stands out is his painting entitled The Virgin and Child With Two Angels After baptism. This is actually the second most famous work of him and the first is St. Barbara which he produced in 1512. In this famous watercolor painting, we can find the Madonna seated on a white silk bed alongside two angels in her arms. The inscriptions that surround them provide us with the translation “In the year of the birth of Mary the virgin Mary. Also in the year of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.”

Two other titian works that you may want to add to your art collection are the frescoes that were painted in 1512 while he was still living in the city of Florence and the portrait of the Virgin and Child With Two Angels After baptism. The frescoes that Titian completed during his short stay in Florence were among his most prized possessions as they have remained in their original form. Another famous artist who worked with him in the city of Florence was Andrea del Sarto. Together the two painted hundreds of popular works such as the Sistine Madonna, Virgin of Louvain, Madonna and Child, The Immaculate Conception, Madonna & Child With Two Angels and several others.

The other great artist who lived during the Italian renaissance period was Titian himself who is also closely associated with famous artists like Andrea del Sarto and Sandro Botticelli. While the Titian renaissance painting of the Madonna and child with two angels is perhaps the best known of all his paintings, there are also many other paintings that you might be interested in. If you are new to Italian art, then you should start by choosing one of Titian's famous renaissance paintings and then from there, you can branch out and look at other artists. Regardless of which artists you choose to follow up your chosen portrait with, you will surely be inspired by their beauty and artistry.
